Fall 2006 Social Hour & Evening Themes

Down on the farm social hour 2002Among the highlights of each day at the West Coast Gatherings are the late afternoon social hour parties and evening events.

Just for fun, the social hour parties and evening events have a different theme each day. While nudity is still the overall rule, gathering attendees are encouraged (but not required) to wear accessories that correspond to the theme for the social hour and evening.

Social hour "costumes" can range from a simple cap or hat to the outlandish.

After months of extensive deliberation, the planning committee announced the following themes for the Fall 2006 West Coast Gathering:

Thursday, August 31: Madd Hatter - The Madd Hatter has arrived, but can't decide what hat to wear! What would you suggest? What hat would your friends say is you? Wear your favorite hat, cap, crown, tiara, bonnet or beanie. If you belong to a local club this would be a great evening to wear your local club cap too. If not, perhaps a cap representing the city or state you are from could be worn. Opening ceremonies and get acquainted activities will highlight the evening.

Friday, September 1: A Day at the Job Site - This evening we begin our labor day weekend tribute to the muscular construction workers, communication workers, farm workers, movie grips, and transportation workers who have made contributions to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. If the workers you admire most went to work naked, what accessories would they still wear? Don't forget your hat.

Saturday, September 2: Hawaiian Luau - Every working man needs a holiday. Tonight the romance, music, and foods from the Pacific island state will transport our fantasies to a tropical paradise. A beckoning drum and a faint Pacific Ocean breeze add to the romance. Come natively naked or wear a lei for the evening. A luau dinner is planned for this evening. Hula anyone?

Sunday, September 3: Pimps and Ho's - Tonight we are inspired by the working women who know best how to take care of a working man from sidewalks along Eighth Avenue to Sunset Blvd. Dress to seduce tonight. Miss CMEN Queen contest is scheduled for this evening, who will win our affection?

Leathermen at leather theme social hour Spring 2003Monday, September 4: Leather Masters & Slaves - The masculine aroma of men in black leather will fill the air, the music will beat heavy with anticipation, Yes Sir! Which is your favorite role? Will tonight be the night of your fantasies? Look your best in polished motorcycle boots, black leather cap, armband, harness, and other leather accessories. Demonstrations and the Mr. Leather CMEN contest are scheduled for this afternoon and evening.

Tuesday, September 5: In the Pink - Everything is rosy. Tonight everyone is seeing pink! View the world through rose colored glasses. Wear your favorite pink cap or hat, pink sandals or other pink accessories. The highlight of the evening will be the Mr. CMEN contest.

Mardi Gras Cocktail Party 2001Wednesday, September 6: Wizard of Oz - Tonight we venture over the rainbow, "Toto, I have a feeling that we aren't in Kansas anymore." What was your favorite scene, Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest, the Witch's Castle, or Emerald City? Join us wearing the accessories of your favorite character for a walk along the yellow brick road. A talent show will be featured this evening.

Thursday, September 7: 60's Revisited - This evening we celebrate the "Decade of Peace and Love," a time of change, from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "Dream" to the rise of gay rights, and man's first walk on the moon. The Beatles began a musical revolution, followed by Pink Floyd's psychedelic rock music and the Woodstock music festival. The emerging hippie lifestyle included drugs, loud music and war protests, but it also meant living closer to nature and freedom from the constraints of clothing.

Friday, September 8: Cantina Latina - This evening's adventure takes us on a fantasy visit to old Mexico. Ah, the sounds of mariachi music, Spanish guitars, romantic dancing, great looking native men and and a fantastic fiesta. Come naturally native or wear your serape and sombrero or a vaquero hat.

Saturday, September 9: Full Moon Saloon - Imagine yourself riding in from the open prairie, or a hard week workin' in a mine, on a farm, or on a railroad. It's Saturday evenin' in the Full Moon Saloon. Fancy yourself in the next City Slickers? Throw on your hat, boots, and other accessories this evening pardner. Country barbecue, two-step dancing, and line dancing are among the evening's planned activities.

Volunteers are welcome to help with these and other proposed theme related evening activities, please note any special interest when sending in the registration form.
